MUSIC

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

Don't play what's there, play what's not there.

Music, the greatest good that mortals know, And all of heaven we have below

A song will outlive all sermons in the memory

Opera is when a guy gets stabbed in the back and instead of bleeding he sings.

Music hath the charm to soothe a savage beast, but I'd try a revolver first.

A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence.

All deep things are song. It seems somehow the very central essence of us, song; as if all the rest were but wrappages and hulls

Without music life would be a mistake

If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music
